Stroke Treatment

The Department of Neurology has an inpatient unit dedicated to the treatment of Strokes, with continuous round-the-clock monitoring.

Strokes are common, with around 150,000 new cases per year in France. They are the leading cause of acquired disability in adults, the second biggest cause of dementia behind Alzheimer's disease and the third biggest cause of death.

Symptoms appear suddenly and the most common ones are:

  • Paralysis of one arm, one leg or one side of the face
  • Loss of sensation on one side of the body
  • Difficulty talking
  • Loss of vision in one eye
  • Balance or walking difficulties
