Researchers at the Rothschild Foundation in Paris are the first to design a new objective cataract grading method based on lens densitometry on swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) scans provided by the IOLMaster 700. Average lens density was used to assess cataract based on SS-OCT scans provided by the IOL measuring device, which produced reliable and repeatable results. An average lens density greater than 82 pixel units was diagnostic of cataract, with a sensitivity of 73.9% and specificity of 91.2%.
